Big Trade

I am in a 10 team ESPN Roto 5x5, that does a auction draft, I am in 8th place only 9 points behind first, so it is a tight league race, the 2nd place team inquired about Werth or Hammy, I figured I might as well try to fix my team for next season.

Here is the deal I will be proposing (ncludes 201 keeper value)
I Get
Kevin Youkilis 1b/3b $18
BJ Upton of $15
Kendry Morales 1b(DL) $15
Brett Anderson sp $7
I Give
Ryan Zimmerman 3b $30
Jayson Werth of $19
Justin Morneau 1b $23
Zack Greinke sp $28
Will drop Jose Guillen as well and pick up Scott Rolen

My Team includes 2011 keeper value
C-Russ Martin $7
1B-Aubrey Huff $3
2B-Dan Uggla $12
3B-Ryan Zimmerman $30
SS-Felipe Lopez $3
MI-Juan Uribe $3
CI-Gaby Sanchez $3
OF-Jayson Werth $19
OF-Josh Hamilton $16
OF-Austin Jackson $3
OF-Luke Scott $3
OF-Scott Podsednik $
UTIL-Lance Berkman $13
BN-Jose Guillen $3
BN-Carlos Santana $3
DL-Justin Morneau $23
DL-David Freese $3

P-Zack Greinke $28
P-Jered Weaver $16
P-Adam Wainwright $14
P-Madison Bumgarner $3
P-Jaime Garcia $3
P-Mariano Rivera $18
P-Mike Gonzalez $4
P-Drew Storen $3
BN-Ricky Nolasco $9
BN-Travis Wood $3

I wouldn't do it for a couple reasons. A) I wouldn't take BJ Upton. I have had him in my starting line up this whole season waiting for him to produce but like the enigma he is he hasn't. Now he's really only good for speed but you can trade for Pierre or Bourne if you really want speed. And I don't see him being all that different next season unless he has a mental revolution B) Jason Werth is beginning to heat up. C) Justin Morneau is a beast when he's healthy and after he returns from the concussion he should light it up
If I were you I'd try to replace Scott Podsednik cause when Manny comes back his ABs will significantly drop.

I actually like this deal, you save some money (lots of it) but a big pending on me to fully except this deal is if Youkilis keeps 3B eligibility next season? If not then I would pass, I don't know the parameters of your league, and Youkilis is golden @ 3B where the talent level drops off.

yeah this deal is purely for Money purposes, plus I figure Upton's speed will offst the loss of Podsednik, when Manny gets back and it's easy to find a hot hitting OF on waivers for Pods< I figure next season a healthy Morales is slightly better, younger and cheaper than Morneau and with Greinke, he is priced too high to keep next season while he still wears a KC uniform, plus I do have Wainwright and Weaver at a good price next season and Brett Anderson will be a steal.

From a next year standpoint, I like it a lot. At each position, you are giving up the better player for the better player at cost. Youk is a monster (ok, at that one, you get the better player), but, for example, that Anderson price is better than Greinke.

Help with mine:

thanks for your help with mine...im not so sure I would do it, I am no expert in keeper leagues or anything like that but you really wouldn't be getting enough in return to justify who you will give up. Even with the prices, I feel if you try to save that money you will hurt for the next few years

Talent wise i would stay put. But if you feel the need to be the seller and throw in the towel this season and bulid for next I would do this. It depends on if you think you can make a push/run for the playoffs

I can see it from a money standpoint, but am not that crazy about it in general. BJ is risky and you will be giving up a stud in Morneau, but then, for next year it may be a moderate risk / reward deal.

Thanks for looking at mine ;-D
