Jays lose because they were unable to trade pieces that should have been traded.

Love the Yanks getting Berkman cheap. They now have 4 starting switch-hitters in Berkman, Teix, Swish, and Posada. That will be outsanding for matchups in the playoffs. Although I hated getting Kerry Wood. He didn't cost anything, but I laughed when I saw the headline on ESPN "Yanks get Indians' Wood to shore up bullpen'...I'm pretty sure acquiring Kerry Wood does not sure up anyone's bullpen.

The Ludwick trade for SD was solid, but they needed something bigger. Not sure what Petco is going to do to Ludwick's power numbers, but they needed something, and they got something, so it is what it is.

Not sure if the Pirates GM has blackmail on the Giants GM or what. Traded TIm Alderson for freddy sanchez last yr, alderson hasn't been any good but it was a bonehead move. Now traded Joe Martinez this yr for a garbage RP.

Apart from Cliff Lee, they just got bit part/fringe players in my opinion. They didn't really pull off a massive heist, but what they got for Saltymama was quite decent. I don't think they beat any of the winners I have listed.

Apart from Cliff Lee lol.....he's the best pitcher in baseball right now. That alone makes them the winners........not to mention Cantu is a perfect fit in their lineup.

Yeah, but they only got a couple of months of Lee. 5+ years of Smoak+ was a steep price for a few months of Lee.

Cantu has been a bit snore-worthy over '09 and '10, he hasn't OPSed .800+ since 2008.

I'm happy as hell that the Mets did not trade Ollie and Castillo for Zambrano's albatross. If you want to take on such a terrible contract, get a guy who doesn't suck.

I'm surprised you don't have the Nats as winners.

I don't think it was a bad move by the Twins considering the circumstances, but the Nats did extremely well getting a prospect like Ramos no matter how you look at it.

Meh I'll take Lee and a legitimate chance to win the World Series any day. Who knows, if their ownership situation gets figured out maybe they can re-sign Lee. It's not like Smoak has really showed any flashes of being a star hitter either...he has a lot of questions to answer still. It was a good deal for both sides but I'm taking Lee all day there.
