Votto a better 3 year keeper than Pujols?

Postby BSbludolf » Fri Jul 30, 2010 11:32 pm

You dont need a linup for this. I'm in line for a championship this year. I have two three year keepers and one 'franchise guy' in this league. I have Hanley and Braun who will be keepers unless something groundbreaking happens (I know they are having down years but they are the best, unless you have more suggestions). I also have Votto, Kemp and howard. Should I trade Kemp and votto for Pujols? I want to turn these 5 players into the best possible starting trio for next year. Kemp and votto for M Cab? Kemp + howard/votto for somebody. Is Votto my keeper for next year? I should be able to do this myself, but having this opportunity I would like for the cafe to weight in. Thanks fellas (and ladies?). WHIR

Kemp + Votto for Pujols is an ABSOLUTE no. No no no.

Personally, I'd keep Votto. Pujols is great and will continue to produce for a few more years, but Votto is rivaling/equal to his numbers and is only 26!

If for some reason you have a massive crush on Pujols though, I'd go with giving Votto and some mid tier guy, not kemp....but stat wise for the future, stick with Votto.

Crush on Pujols? Not exactly, I'm trying to turn Hanley, Braun, Votto, Howard and Kemp into the best three possible keepers for next year. I know Pujols is having a down year but he has been the consensus #1 pick for the past few years. Well at least this year. I guess I'm basically asking who are the top 3 players off the board next year. It's probably too early to even ask this question, sorry I was pretty drunk when I posted the question last night and I guess I got antsy. Might be a good topic in a couple of months though

Yeah it's a good idea to not post when you're hammered ;-D
This may be a bit too OT, I don't think it is but others may, but I believe in no order it will be Votto, Pujols, and Hanley even with Pujol's and Hanley's down years.

There is no way Votto gets drafted ahead of Pujols next year (unless Pujols is actually hurt and it turns out to be something serious. If it turns out to something minor that was bothering him this year and is cleaned up, he vaults back to #1 by a longslide). But the question was a 3 year keeper: in that case, I may take Votto 27-29 over Pujols 31-33, but it's very close.
If looking at next year, I would flip Votto for Pujols (but not add much in). This year, I do believe Pujols has an injury (back), and would keep Votto.
