Playing W/ An Empty Position *WHIR*

Postby stickkeys108 » Fri Jul 30, 2010 1:25 pm

10- team, Yahoo, Roto, 4-keeper, very competitive league.

Currently in 2nd place with 69.5 points. First place has 75.5 points and I'm very much within striking distance.

That said, I've had a rash of DL stints lately. One being Ian Kinsler. Now, when Kinsler was placed on the DL, I added Ian Stewart.

However, the moment the Capps to Minnesota deal went down, I immediately dropped Stewart and added Drew Storen as I felt the saves were more important.

The best available 2B are Stewart, Callaspo, Desmond, Keppinger, Barmes.

With that said, am I wise to just leave that position unfilled or do I cut ties with Storen and add a 2B until Kinsler returns?

Here's why I rank in each category to give you a sense:

R- 10
HR- 8.5
RBI- 9
STL- 9
AVG- 10
W- 2
SV- 8
K- 5
ERA- 4
WHIP 4

Here's my roster:

C Posada
1B Posey
2B - EMPTY -
3B Young
SS Reyes
OF Holliday
OF Kemp
OF Carlos Gonzalez
UT Pence
UT Podsednik
BN Markakis
BN Kinsler (DL)
DL Morneau

SP Cliff Lee
SP Verlander
RP Wagner
RP Lindstrom
P Gregg
P Storen
P Haren
BN Wood (DL)
BN Lilly
BN Nolasco
BN Lackey

I would cut ties with Storen already and add Stewart. OR I would deal Storen if you can to someone who needs saves. You don't need him but he has some value. so Shop him around and see what you can get.

I would go with Callaspo. He's a pretty consistent hitter. He'll keep your average close and bring in runs and rbis occasionally.

I'd probably dump Pods. He's not really your go-to guy for SBs, and he's going to lose playing time in LA anyway.

help?

The easiest person to drop is PODSEDNIK!

You're 9th in steals anyway, so that isn't a big deal.

He is going to lose playing time once Manny comes back, so pretty soon most of his value will disintegrate.

I'd pick back up Stewart absolutely; if he is gone by the time you go to make the move, then I'd try out Ian Desmond. 2B/SS eligibility, and with Guzman now out of town, he's going to be playing just about every single day. He's got the stuff to be a solid contributor, and I think we'll going to see it in these next 2 months.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

I would also definitely pick up Stewart. The question is whether you drop Storen or Podsednik. If you do decide to keep the roster spot open you could give it a week and see whether Storen is their closer (and then drop Pods) or if he is not and then drop Storen

I agree with everyone else where I would drop Pods.
