Dynasty league, 39 player rosters, 5x5 H2H league. I am doing so so this year and my record is 8-7. I could make the playoffs if I play well the last so many weeks.
The offers on the table: What do you guys think?
My Jacoby Ellsbury and Carlos Marmol for Brennan Boesch, Francisco Cordero, VMart
or
My Joey Votto for Billy Butler, Trevor Cahill, VMart
I personally like Votto better then Ellsbury, less injury risk, and in his prime right now Votto that is. Not that Ellsbury isn't but really what has he accomplished of late?
PLUS you get to keep Marmol one of the best young closers in the game.
Better return for Votto, but Votto is the better bat then Ellsbury.
Out of these two deals, I would much prefer the Votto for Butler/Cahill/VMart. I'm not crazy about giving up a bat like Votto in a dynasty league, but I like this value much more than the first deal - and I really like Cahill going forward.

It's really close for me on this one. How many guys do you get to hold onto in your dynasty format? That would definitely help us answer this - so we could breakdown what guys you would be going forward with the trade/vs./ without the trade.
We keep ALL 39 players going forward. So, I would like to win this year but not sure my team is strong enough( I just took it over this season) but want to make it stronger this year and for next.

I see, well Votto is definitely your crown jewel, and I'm still not sold on Butler + Cahill + VMart being the best possible alternative. I think your best bet in making your team better now, and going forward would be to shop Votto around and try to maximize value in a 2 for 1. I don't love VMart's value in a dynasty leauge.
Another alternative, would be to hold onto Votto and deal ARod. I said this in another thread, but people's perception of ARod still heavily outweighs his actual production. You need to capitalize on this why he still has great value to people. If you moved him in a 2 for 1 deal and got a big bat and good arm in return, I would really like your team.
Thanks, maybe I will try to shop ARod around and see what I can get. What if I could get a better OF than Boesch in the Ellsbury deal like Choo? Think that would be fair and doable? Any other opinions out there about these two offers? All replies answered. Thanks.
Thanks for the help on mine. I don't like either trade for you, I'd rather you try to deal ARod or you need to get better players coming back for Votto. Choo helps but I'd shoot for a better 2 for your 1 deal.
