Ubaldo for Jaime Garcia + Brett Gardner

Postby cs3 » Wed Jul 28, 2010 10:20 pm

My garcia + gardner for his ubaldo.
I have ellsbury coming off the DL in the next 2 weeks, and I just picked up Andres Torres from the FA list, so Gardner is expendable. Garcia has been one of my best pitchers this year, and has had great results so far, but i think everyone around here expects him to ERA to catch up to his xFIP. and his whip has not been great.
Ubaldo has struggled his past several starts but with his stuff and the lineup hitting for him i cant fathom him not being a top 10 pitcher the rest of the way.
So is this a no brainer?

10 team H2H league.

yeah, I do that trade for Ubaldo in a heartbeat. You have many options for replacing Gardner already on your roster. Ubaldo is going to bounce back. He might not get back to what he was in the first half, but he won't be what his last few starts have been either.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

yep, i dont expect first half production, but i do think he'll outperform garcia the rest of the way - and i wont have to worry about his starts getting pushed back or skipped all together as is very likely with garcia

Ubaldo will come back down to Earth... you got an upgrade from Gardner and Jaime but I would still look to move him...

Good Luck
I guess there was no curse... Boston just sucked for 86 years...

looks like hes over his little bump... 7 very solid innings today and virtually unhittable after the first inning. granted it was againsnt the pirates, but still a good sign. at least he'll regain some confidence he may have lost over the past couple weeks.

so do you guys i should try to package him w Konerko for a stud 1b like votto/pujols, or is the difference between those guys and konerko not worth giving up Ubaldo for? Maybe try to target Cano which would give me a really solid lineup?
Or keep my current pitching staff together, Ubaldo included, and let them carry the team?
