Should I trade away King Felix?... WHIR!

14-team Yahoo H2H league, standard 5x5 scoring, non keeper

My team:

C - Carlos Santana
1B - Mark Teixeira
2B - Aaron Hill
3B - Aramis Ramirez
SS - Alexei Ramirez
OF - Matt Kemp
OF - Adam Jones
OF - Jason Kubel
UTIL - Adam LaRoche
BN - Domonic Brown

SP - Felix Hernandez
SP - Jered Weaver
RP - Rafael Soriano
RP - Francisco Cordero
P - Mike Leake
P - Kris Medlen
P - Gavin Floyd
P - Roy Oswalt
BN - Edinson Volquez
BN - Tom Gorzelanny
BN - Barry Zito
BN - Jeremy Hellickson

The Trade:

I Give:

Felix, Alexei, Brown

I Get:

Haren, Furcal, Delmon Young

My team has been struggling a lot recently in terms of offense so this trade may give me a nice boost, but will it make my offense too weak? I was thinking if I do make it, then I could shop hill/laroche for an upgrade at 2B and start young at UTIL. What do you guys think of it? Should I pull the trigger?

i wouldn't personally do it... felix is a bonafide ace and the best return you're getting is.... delmon young? granted he's like, what, .300+/~12/75 or something? i mean, your outfield is rank but felix is the type of pitcher that you want spearheading ye olde rotation, and getting back dan haren back would be retarded. he's had an off year, and granted he was launching up HRballs left and right in arizona and now he's out of there, here's a little hint for fantasy baseball: NEVER TRADE FOR DAN HAREN IN THE SECOND HALF. his career second half setup is like 1 run higher, and i mean, he ends up with good overall #s (short of i think he had a year with an overall 4.12 ERA) but this year he's 4.57/1.35? yeah the K numbers are nice, but felix down to haren is like two or three notches down....

also, the alexei ramirez for rafael furcal part is kinda ehh for me cuz whilst furcal has been the goods in terms of a fantasy shortstop this year, methinks he has to be playing over his head some... now alexei is technically playing over his head too, having hit .350 over the last ~30 games or something, i still think that alexei has a good chance of faring better than furcal from here on out... granted furcal is hitting the shiz out of the ball like it must be a contract year, but still... i'd have trepidations.

i mean, if you're going to trade felix and have stuff come back, i'd go for bigger than dan haren and delmon young... maybe see if you can pry a jaime garcia type from someone... or hell, go for a bigger bat and see if anyone has wandy rodriguez he's been pitching well... or brett myers... or vin mazzaro, assuming the madison bumgarners are not on the FA list in your league. i mean personally i've outright cut dan haren two leagues after trading him away in two others... i came into this year with the master plan to ride haren's hot first half and trade him high and double-win, but instead he was just bad bad bad bad and only served to drag me down... thank god for mat latos who came through and neutralized the haren 4.50ERAdom

so i'd try to do much better than this... he's only got 7 wins and yeah he had a rough outing last time, but felix is a beast and he's pitching like one and that'll be more valuable than a name-brand FA-calibur pitcher, a menial to maybe decent upgrade at SS, and then delmon young who like, i dunno, i dont buy into him yet.

What offensive stats are struggling with? A quick look and I'm thinking HR and AVG? Considering it's a 14-team league your pitchers look great to me. Do you win these almost every week?

If my assumptions above are correct I'd trade Felix and target HRs and AVG. If you can somehow pull a big bat with a good average I think you'll be fine. It wouldn't hurt if you can throw in another player to get an average SP either.

Thanks for the advice. My pitching does usually win a fair amount of the categories each week. Here are my offensive rankings so far: R 5th, HR 5th, RBI 10th, AVG 13th. Looks Like I could use an improvement in RBI and AVG. So do you think I should try to send felix somewhere for some help in those categories? Any suggestions?

If me yes. But hopefully some others will provide some input too.
