I picked Kent beginning of 2nd round and not Boone because:
1. We've all heard of suspicions of Boone juiced up and I didn't wanna be any part that when he get off the stuff
2. Enron field (is it still called that?) is still a far superior hitters part than SafeCo
3. I sense a WS or bust attitude in Houston. The fans and players get the sense that it's now or never considering they have so many players that will be FA after this season.
It's very close between the two. I picked over Boone last year and I was wrong but this year I think my fortunes will return
If I had to pick between the 2, I would pick Kent. I have the same concerns as some others about Boone, and I really like Kent to be better this season than last.
Here's a useless stat trend. Since 1997, Kent performs considerably better in even number years.
tough thread. i have kent so i want to say it's him. but boone hits behind ichiro and randy winn. both hit above .320 so he will have the rbi's. that being said, i believe he has been on the juice as others have said. kent NEVER been on it. i worry about the wrist tendonitis, but kent never had a season like boone's 2002 on did he? and boone was juicing then even. KENT. unless it's a trade you're talking. is this a draft question or a trade question?
Hell, with the way Kent responded to the steriod talk I wouldn't be surprised if he was on the juice as well. And since no one is down grading Bonds, Sosa, Giambi or Sheff then why down grade Boone. I'd take Boone. He adds the steals that put this in his favour. And like someone else said: He's got Ichiro and Winn hitting in front of him so he should have lots of RBI opps even if his homer total goes down.
Also, I believe Family Guy is one of the greatest shows ever made. Real Genius. Too bad it's not on anymore. I do hear it's making a comeback though. I also love South Park too. Great, Just GREAT!!!!!!!
But from what I've seen, he's been going in the 2nd, whilst Kent has been going around the 5th or 6th, which is probably why I have him in a few leagues.
I'd say Boone over Kent. And if the parks they hit in have any factor on how you rank them, the fact that Boone is in SafeCo should increase his value. He's been hitting there for a while and done very well. Kent has done very well in Minute Maid Park. So you can't factor the parks in again, unless there is a change to them. A change has been made to SafeCo to make it more hitter friendly (the backdrop in CF has changed which has made it less of a pitchers park; a switch they made mid-season last year). Now I'm not saying SafeCo is a better hitters park than Minute Maid, but relative to last year it is, so if the parks have any effect on your rankings, it should favour Boone.
Boone will probably put up similar numbers to Kent across the board, with about 10 more SB's, and slightly more runs scored and HR. That's why I'd take Boone. Boone is also a year younger, not that it makes much of a difference.
"Jack, will you call me, if you're able?"
"I've got your phone number written, in the back of my Bible."

He is the ultimate Canadian redneck.
I don't agree with 5% of the things he says but I support his right to say it and get opinions out there. Kind of like Howard Stern - it's helpful and healthy to stimulate discussion.
