Trade Opportunity .. Who would you want to get..

Postby Kuszmaul » Wed Jul 28, 2010 3:01 pm

Looking to make a deal to get me over the top in my keeper league, posted details in an earlier post but got no response.

Im deciding on a deal to give me more offense and tighten up my pitching down the stretch. Trading Upton, Bryce Harper, and Travis Wood to get Nick Swisher, Max Scherzer and another.....

Would you want to get and why -- David Ortiz, Tyler Colvin, or Corey Hart for the next couple months..... I may or may not keep any of these guys next season, trying to win now.

Things to keep in mind.... trying to keep Runs and K's category points coming in as we pay category winners and competing closely in both.

Your input is greatly appreciated...Thank you

First, which Upton is it? I'm guessing Justin, because if it's BJ then this is a no-brainer on your part and take any of the three guys listed. I'd personally go Colvin, especially in a keeper league that uses salary as I assume he is the cheapest. Harper will be lucky to do what Colvin is doing now. Max Vs. Wood, who knows if Wood will get full rotation turns in a crowded Reds SP situation. The reason I'd take Colvin is he has been inserted as the lead off hitter for the Cubs. Of course he won't stay there longterm (too much power and too many K's) but very well may stick for this season. Which means runs plus the power. Hart is very good obviously, but the wrist thing is worrisome. Just see his teammate Rickie Weeks problems the last 2-3 years. And even though he's on a better Brewers offense, he'll hit 6th and maybe even 7th. Ortiz is old, if you think he best helps you this season then go for it. But I'm partial to the Help Now guys with next year potential.

Help on mine :)

Im all about the Help now, thanks for the reply.....

We dont do salary and this is what I posted yesterday but didnt get a response.... something about colvin just wont let me get him out of my head in this deal.

16 team keeper league, pretty competitive points league with category scoring and payouts

Currently sitting in 3rd place but 1st is attainable.... trade deadline next week, free agent freeze Sept 1. Keep 8 players each year, no strings on kept players.

Leading Runs by 5, currently 20 K's behind leader, and 1 save behind leader. Doing well in other categories but these are the most I'm competing in. Looking to bolster my production for the stretch run and have a couple of trades in discussion but looking for input.

My team:

Active

Napoli - C, Youkilis -1, Zobrist -2, Andrus - ss, Headley -3, Hamilton, Upton, McCutcheon -OF, C Johnson - Util, King Felix, Lincecum, Dempster, Latos - SP, Feliz - RP.

Reserves

T Wood -P, G Gonzalez - P, M Rivera - RP, Bryce Harper - OF, CJ Wilson - P, G Sizemore - IR

Another owner wants Upton pretty bad and has offered up D Ortiz and C Hart for him. Im not sure about Harts production with his injury... should I target Ortiz and T colvin or offer him a package of Wood/Upton/Harper for Ortiz/Colvin/Scherzer or forget Colvin and take Hart in the deal.... or my ultimate dilemma ... keep Upton and hope I have enough to make up the difference?

His lineup is Suzuki, I Davis, Uggla, Reynolds, Reyes, Swisher, Hart, Colvin, Ortiz, Piniero, Gallardo, Scherzer, Kuroda, Capps, Laporta, Burnett, Padilla, B Anderson, Leake, Morales.

just looking for other input gang......thanks

The guy is ready to fire sale and he wants Upton... I just want to position myself best down the stretch. Max is an upgrade over wood and I need to make up for the loss of Upton and yes, it is Justin Upton. Hart is an injury risk and Ortiz is a slump risk, Colvin would be a "youngster" risk....

A second scenario I have is that I could get Max, Colvin, Swisher and a 4th by trading Rivera away but by owning Rivera I can play the weekly 7 game matchup vs the 6 game matchup as we make roster moves weekly and I am 1off the lead in saves category.

If you have more input, please do tell....
