If you ran a current MLB team, who would you keep?

Postby RedSoxNation04 » Wed Jul 28, 2010 2:58 pm

As we approach the trade deadline I was thinking about my keeper options in one of my leagues and got to thinking about current MLB teams. If MLB was going to start over and throw every player (with current salaries) back into a draft but would allow each team to keep one player, who would you keep and why?

As a Sox fan, I would keep Lester. Young, legit ace with a modest contract.

What say you???

As an Orioles fan, (this is mostly a no brainer), I'd keep Markakis. Good, young outfielder. Really the only piece of the puzzle that is firmly in place for the future.

Dodgers - No-brainer as well. Clayton Kershaw in a heartbeat.

:-S

over Wieters?

If Markakis was still a 20/20 threat...ok maybe, but this season he's not even a 10/10 threat.

Yes, over Wieters. Markakis has already been an all star and he's hitting just about .300. His power has slowly started to come back, and Wieters hasn't really shown much to suggest he's going to fulfill his potential. I love Wieters, but I'd take Mark over him in a heartbeat.

I had the same thought initially, but on the flip side, what's there to get excited about with Wieters so far?

Braves = Jason Heyward. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Evan Longoria easily for the Rays and probably easily over any other contract in baseball as well.

No doubt that contract is team-friendly, but Price would deserve some consideration here, I would think...

Nope, not a chance.

2008-2013---14 mil
2014--7.5 mil
2015--11 mil
2016--11.5 mil

2016 will be his age 31 season, and he should easily outproduce that 11.5 number in what should have been his 2 year of a monster free agent contract.
