Keeper League Trade (Braun, Zimmerman, Longoria) WHIR

Postby tyson56 » Tue Jul 27, 2010 11:45 pm

20 team league, 15 keepers, H2H Categories

Ryan Zimmerman
Ryan Braun
Cliff Pennington
Gio Gonzalez
Jhoulys Chacin
for
Evan Longoria
Ben Zobrist
Starlin Castro
Clayton Kershaw
Jonathan Broxton

My team right now
Santana
Swisher
Utley (DL)
Pennington/Hardy
Zimmerman
Carlos Gonzalez
Colby Rasmus
Ryan Braun

There is a UTIL spot, and I have Dom Brown and Desmond Jennings on the bench

Cole Hamels, Kevin Slowey, Gio Gonzalez, Matusz, Porcello, Brett Anderson
Rauch, Lidge

I'm looking to fill in my 2b until Utley gets back, make room for Brown/Jennings, pick up a long-term SS, and improve my pitching. This deal does that, but is it worth giving up Braun and Zimmerman? I upgrade to Longoria, he's a better all around player than Zimmerman, he can get some steals and is in a better lineup. Zobrist can move to the OF when Utley gets back, and is a good trade piece after the season for someone who needs a 2b...or just keep him if he picks up his power again to go along with his speed. Kershaw and Broxton upgrade my pitching over Gio and Rauch. Would this trade be worth it for me? Thanks all.

I would, just for Braun and Zimmerman in a keeper league.

Braun is only getting better as is Zimmerman. Good pitchers care coming up more and more, it's damn hard to find a Braun.

I'd be trading Braun and Zimmerman...not to be a dick, but did you read my post?

Anyone else please? Thanks.

You weren't being a dick--that guy was quite rude for not actually reading your post.

I understand being hesitant about giving up Braun, but you are getting a great haul, like you said.

Longoria > Zimmerman

Now, and in the long run as well. Longoria will continue to be on a better team for quite some time.

Pennington, Gonzalez, and Chacin is basically a scrap heap. You can find guys just like them on the WW most likely. None of them are anything special.

You are getting back Zobrist, Kershaw, AND Broxton? Not to mention a great SS keeper prospect in Castro. Damn. I'm really not sure what this guy sees in the players you're offering, unless he's just really obsessed with Braun and willing to overpay.

I would definitely pull this trigger. Your keeper infield is staggering with Longoria/Castro/Utley. You have Zobrist as well who is versatile and can fill a couple spots. And you make a major upgrade at pitcher. DO IT.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)
