Strasburg is supposed to start tonight and it is showing Miguel Batista--what happened???

Stephen Strasburg was scratched from Tuesday's start against the Braves.

It's not known why he was scratched, but Ivan Rodriguez could be seen consoling Strasburg in the bullpen. Miguel Batista will start Tuesday's game, instead. Stay tuned for further word on his status, but the Nats obviously won't take any chances here.

I just saw on ESPN that he was scratched during warmups--If anyone sees the reason he was scratched please let me know.

Nationals placed RHP Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 22, with right shoulder stiffness.

There was some back-and-forth, but after Nationals manager Jim Riggleman announced that he would be shut down for ten days, this move made more and more sense. Former pitcher Jim Bunning can talk all he wants, but this is the right move to protect a special arm in a down year for the Nationals. Better to look to the future. It looks like the newly activated Scott Olsen will take his place for now.

I was wondering this exact thing, and came here to see if anyone had information on this. Does his DL stint here keep his IP count down for the time being, so he'll pitch deeper into the year now? Barring further injury of course... Or is there any word that they may lower his IP total because of the injury?

I'm an owner, so I was thinking/hoping that he'd be worth more now as he may pitch deeper into the season...
