12 team roto 5x5 standard cats...keep any 10 players indefinitely
I was thinking of trying to get Ryan Braun (or Jose Reyes) from the last place team....His team is pretty weak, I don't think he would use all 10 of his keeper spots right now...So i was thinking of offering him multiple players for Braun....players that he would keep but I don't have room for in my 10 keepers.
I was thinking something like A Beltre, Kendry Morales, and David Price for Braun. Is that too much?
My keepers would then be:
Carlos Santana (Cle - C) Mark Teixeira (NYY - 1B) Robinson Canó (NYY - 2B) Troy Tulowitzki (Col - SS) Mark Reynolds (Ari - 1B,3B) Josh Hamilton (Tex - OF) Ryan Braun (Mil - OF) Stephen Strasburg (Was - SP) Zack Greinke (KC - SP) Francisco Cordero (Cin - RP), Ricky Nolasco, or Jonathan Sanchez

I have never done a keeper league(I have been pushing for it for years) so I cannot speak to the dynamics of how that end of it works, but I will say that if you could make that trade happen, go for it. The way I see it, Beltre is a sell high guy right now, he is older and is probably the mvp for the redsox right now. Moralis is good, but injured and you have tex, so that is a nice chip if you can convince him that Moralis is a good investment long term. Price is the big chip, a young pitcher on a good team, but I think he is a smart player in this because the Rays may lose some key players next year that could hurt the club as a whole, which could make it harder for Price to be effective.
By a general rule, I say if you are getting the best player, you are getting the better end of the deal. Braun is the #1 OF. If you are out of it anyway, then do it. If you think you can win this year, do not. You might also want to consider price a keeper over someone like Reynolds. Then again, there may be no 3Bs left because you can keep 10.
I think that's a fine trade for you, actually I'd question why the other guy would take it. You're junking two guys you probably won't keep anyways in Beltre and Morales (Beltre is having his 2nd career year, I don't see him having the same numbers in 2011, esp. if not in Boston). Price is very valuable long-term, but it's not like pitchers often become 1st or 2nd round material. Braun is a first-round pick OF for the next few years, and Price will likely be drafted somewhere in the 60-100 range year in, year out.
i think its not too much or too little...its actually a pretty sweet offer in a 10 player keeper league......win win for both considering u dont need to keep price or morales.....and if i were him i might do this trade. Price and morales are excellent keepers in this format
The trade is not to much...in a keeper trade, I would not move braun for that. If he's willing to do it, pull the trigger. None of the three you listed are in your ten keepers, so the players your offering are going back in the draft if you don't make the trade. Add another player if you have to...
he needs better keepers, but if he'd be able to redraft from good players you and other stacked teams can't keep in your 10 I'm not sure you are offering nearly enuf. If its me I'm not trading my best player w/o getting at least 2 top 50 players back. great deal for you if he'll go for it, but if he's checking rosters and figuring he could get some of these guys (or pretty close)for nothing, I think he'd be in serious trouble trying to compete with that group. well, he is anyway but I think that would seal his fate
