Delmon Young's Keeper Value

Postby KSig24 » Tue Jul 27, 2010 12:34 am

What do you all think DY's keeper value is from here on out? I have rolled the dice on him in the past only to be burned, but he seems like he is coming around and living up to the potential.

Thanks,

With Delmon, he has always has the talent but his head has gotten to him, I think the Twins system has finally done its job, and he is producing like he should have years ago, he is still only 24, and with the M and M boys in Minnesota he will have plenty of chances, it depends on what type of keeper league you are in

We own full rights to the player indefinitely. What is your opinion on Rios as well?

rios' season is very surprising, I'd rather have DY in a indefinite keeper league than rios...younger and more potential, can you put your roster up though, how many keepers do you have each year?

I was wondering this same question myself for both DY and Rios. I picked up DY in June and have rode the gravy train ever since. But I also have Choo and Rios and I'm not sure if it's best to keep 3 OF out of 10 possible keepers, but I don't have that much better of an option. 12 team H2H points league. Here's my roster:

Martinez, Victor C - KEEP
Cuddyer, Michael 1B
Phillips, Brandon 2B - KEEP
Wright, David 3B - KEEP
Andrus, Elvis SS - AUTOMATIC KEEPER - MINORS 1 YEAR
Cantu, Jorge CI
Choo, Shin-Soo OF - KEEP
Rios, Alex OF - KEEP
Young, Delmon OF - KEEP
Pagan, Angel DH
Torres, Andres U

Billingsley, Chad P - KEEP? Him or Volquez
Carpenter, Chris P - KEEP
Gallardo, Yovani P - KEEP
Rauch, Jon P
Street, Huston P
Volquez, Edinson P - KEEP? Him or Bills
Weaver, Jered P - KEEP

Bench
Kendrick, Howard 2B
Willingham, Josh OF
Coghlan, Chris OF
Anderson, Brett P - AUTOMATIC KEEPER - MINORS 1 YEAR
Blanton, Joe P
Fuentes, Brian RP
Lindstrom, Matt RP
Vargas, Jason SP

Minors
Hosmer, Eric 1B - 1 Year
Headley, Chase LF - 0 Years
Hicks, Aaron OF - 2 Years
Jennings, Desmond CF - 2 Years
Hochevar, Luke SP - 0 Years
Hurley, Eric SP - 0 Years
Montgomery, Michael SP - 2 Years
Turner, Jacob SP - 2 Years

I can start 7 pitchers regardless of SP or RP so it doesn't make sense to keep any relievers when they aren't needed. I don't think Street is that elite that he should be kept. My 1B is atrocious though, I wish I could do something about it. The minors numbers mean how many years I'll have them after this year before they have to be one of the 10 major keepers. I picked Jennings, Hicks, Montgomery, and Turner before this season.

Anyway, I really think/hope DY has grown up, because he's tearing the cover off the ball and it'd be nice to be able to keep him if he becomes an perennial MVP candidate.
