D.Wright for T.Tulowitzki (WHIR)

Postby BUCCOFAN » Mon Jul 26, 2010 9:41 am

I am in a deep 15 team (Fantasy Point) Auction Keeper League, (DEEP ROSTERS) we start 2 players at every position around the diamond, 6 Outfielders and 8 Pitchers, weekly. I am currently in 1st place ahead of the pack, by 500 points. So its comfortable.......but always looking to build and re-tool. Players also have 3 year contracts, then become free agents.

I GET:
SS - T.Tulowitzki $39 (2) (one year left after this season) due to return from the DL?

I TRADE:
3B - D.Wright $40 (1) (two years left after this season) having a nice bounce back season, but lots of K's????

Question is, can I afford to lose the 3B, at this point. It would leave me with Pedro Alvarez and Trop Glaus @ the hot corner. For a 15 team league, that ain't that bad.......I just think the improvement of Tulo over Orlando Cabrera, would be tooooo tempting to invest in. AND is Tulo going to be healthy from here on out, gamble that I should take???? he seems to be returning rather quickly from this injury.

MY CURRENT STARTING ROSTER:
C - V.Martinez $30(2) C.Santana $15(1)
1B - A.Pujols $44(3) G.Jones $5(2)
2B - M.Prado $3(2) F.Sanchez $5(1)
3B - D.Wright $40(1) P.Alvarez $5(2)
SS - O.Cabrera $5(1) S.Castro $8(1)
OF - J.Bay $15(3) A.McCutchen $20(2) C.Hart $3(1) D.Young $1(1) C.Crisp $1(1) J.Tabata $11(1)
P - A.Wainwright $18(2) J.Johnson $1(3) C.Lee $3(3) C.Carpenter $34(1) T.Hudson $3(2) J.Jurrjens $5(3) J.Hammel $6(1) E.Volquez $1(1)

BENCH:
1B/3B - T.Glaus $1(1)
2B/SS/3B/OF - O.Infante $3(1)
OF - J.Borbon $3(2)
OF - A.Lind $2(1)
OF - N.McLouth $1(3)
P - D.Bard $1(1)

INJURED:
C - R.Doumit $5(3)
1B - K.Morales $11(2)

MINORS:
P - J.Chacin $4(1)

I like Wright a lot more than Tulo. Tulo is great, especially for a shallow position, but I feel he doesn't have the fantasy potential that Wright does at this moment (and in the next year or so). Add in the fact that you would have Wright a year longer than Tulo. Plus you're trading away one of the best bats of the season for a guy who has been out for several weeks and probably won't return at full strength whenever he comes back. There's no telling how long Tulo takes to get back into the groove of things.

I think I'd stay put with Wright. I like that you have him locked up for 2 more years and I'd much rather roll with Wright+Alvarez at 3B and Cabrera+Castro at SS next year than go with Alvarez+Glaus at 3B and Tulo+Castro/Cabrera at SS. I honestly think the K's for Wright are a bit of an aberration anyway (beaning related?) and that he'll return to his normal 115ish level next season.

Yeah, I would hold onto Wright as well, especially since you have him 2 more years. Him and Alvarez could be pretty potent, and you don't know how Glaus is going to fare going forward...and remember, next year he probably won't be 3B eligible either.

No deal bro.

I see you could use a SS, but so could everyone else. Having one young stud at SS (Castro) will keep you competitive at that position.

I"d try packaging Jones or Glaus with a pitcher to gain an Andus.. Go for cheap youth who are solid ballplayers.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
