Tougher choice. I like Cano a lot and he's a great keeper and a major upgrade. I wouldn't fault you for making this trade. If it were my team I would do it - he's in such a stacked line up, he's a great second half hitter, and you get to keep one of the top 2B in the majors.
Take your 15-2 Ubaldo and bring in Cano. You already got a season's worth of stud pitching from the guy you can afford to gamble that he won't turn things around. Cano will bolster your offense in a strong way. I'd be a little worried about your staff but I'd still be concerned about it with Ubaldo in there as well.
how are you doing in pitching every week? winning by a land slide or just getting by.
and how are you doing hitting wise? same questions, thats what should determine the answer.
If putting Cano in your lineup and getting rid of neil walker is going to put you over the top in hitting it might not be a bad idea. But if your just getting by in pitching losing Ubaldo could be too much.
That's a difficult decision. I do like the cano offer but I think Ubaldo turns it around and your staff could use him big time down the stretch if he gets hot again. He's just got to adjust and he'll be scary once again. I love cano. Half the reason why I'm in first and he might have a stronger second half if that's possible but I stay put with Ubaldo. Good luck
Also, if this is a daily transaction league, maybe you can do some streaming to make up foir the strikeouts you'll lose.
"One of the teams represents truth, justice, the American way, and underdogs everywhere. The other represents George Steinbrenner!" - U.S. News and World Reports columnist John Leo on the difference between the Mets and the Yankees.
If you had another elite starter, I could definitely see doing this trade. Cano will be great for the remainder of this season and has big keeper value. But since you are so weak at pitching after Ubaldo, I think you need to hold onto him here.
I am high on Rios, but is this a breakout season from him and will he sustain this for future seasons?
Cano has been a consistent threat with the bat and has always projected to do so without any major slump in his highly productive career. However, the position is starting to take flight with a lot of other second sackers tearing it up. Weeks, Pedroia, etc..
Ubaldo has the upside, but upside in a dynasty league is what makes the dynasty. I keep Ubaldo regardless at this point. Monitor his next few starts and take a chance on Lincecum if you can capitalize on the opportunity.
