Spin it how ever you want, but the bottom line is the middle reliever market is just fine. Each MLB team needs seven of them, plus AAAA depth, and as we have just seen, they are willing to pay to get them. Draft pick compensation, or not. If you don't have a good bullpen, you can't compete, period.

Yep, and I haven't seen any sign that it's changed from previous years. There's a reason the Jays held on to Downs, Gregg, and Frasor today.
silly me. i forgot this one too .. Lance Berkman for Mark Melancon .. a reliever.
Dash1s. you are wrong. I bet you can't remember the last time you actually admitted you were wrong, but you are clearly wrong here. The middle reliever market is fine and well.
I can help you though. They say a little redemption is good for the soul .. Just quote this below and fill in the blanks .. it will feel good,
promise.

Sorry bro, you whiffed big time. Trading for Relievers, is not the same as signing Type A free agents. Lol. No matter how you slice it. I appreciate the effort.
My point stands. The market for FA Type A Middlerelievers is bleek.
Sure, Downs could get more than 4 million, but why would a team pay big bucks, and their first round pick. If your not a big time closer, its very risky to decline arbitration, and try to acquire a desirable contract with the Type A designation.
Seriously, if Downs declines arbitration, what team is going view Downs more valuable than 4 million cash/1stRoundPick.
Maybe there is some really dumb team that would be willing to spend their first rounder and big dollars on Scott Downs. It would be epic fail. Scott Downs FA isnt that far away. Lets monitor this situation, and we can come back and will in that statement.
