Who is the best?

Postby TAa12fam » Sat Jul 24, 2010 7:24 pm

Hey guys, so in one of my leagues, my core is underachieving, and I'm looking to blow up my entire team. Its an ESPN, 12 team, 5x5 roto leage (OBP instead of AVG), and you get 12 keepers.

I have added these players, and wanted to know what the cafe thought of each of these prospects.

Logan Morrison
Starlin Castro
Dustin Ackley
Jose Tabata
JP Arencibia
Jordan Zimmerman

Any help would be much appreciated.

Based on the amount of keepers in your league, you probably don't want most of these guys. Are you allowed to keep less than 12? Other than Zimmermann and maybe Arencibia. I don't really see any of the other guys being top 144 major leaguers next season. Zimmermann could be good next year if he returns to form. Arencibia will probably have a lot of buzz this winter, so he's worth keeping.

Castro gets hurt in your league using OBP instead of avg. If Morrison gets the 1B job in FLA next year, he could be an OBP machine, but not much else. Ackley doesn't have a position and may not have much beyond OBP skills. Tabata would have to increase his HR and or SB to be considered.

I actually only Starlin Castro is close to meeting your keeper criteria as he's already in the majors and has position scarcity.

You say your core is really struggling? Then perhaps you should keep more than 1 of the following from your list (who are the rest of the guys on your roster?)

For a large keeper like yours, I like Castro and Morrison. I'm leaning towards possibly Tabata too. Wish we knew his real age though!

Well, i know this should be on the other forum, but ill post it anyways.

Well, it was a combination of two teams.

In one league some players I do not want to keep are

Ian Stewart
Denard Span
Gordan Beckham
Chone Figgons
Brian Roberts
Lance Berkman
Jake Peavy

I understand that these players have value, but I feel it is good to rebuild as well. I know that I can not win a title with these guys, and feel I would like to attempt to build a strong core throughout my lineup to compete on a year in, year out basis.

I would keep Beckham. He is really starting to come around, and his upside is very strong.

Just about everybody on this list should be kept over your other list unless your plan is to punt 2011 and possibly 2012.
