My Garza and Volquez for Ian Kinsler (WHIR)

Postby sigriffey » Mon Jul 19, 2010 5:15 pm

This seems like an overpay since Kinsler cannot be kept. But I do need 2B help with Utley out. Can I afford to do this deal? Will Kinsler just get hurt again or do we like his outlook the remainder of the year? My team is in 1st but not by a ton...

Eh. Kinsler is an immediate and big upgrade over Callaspo.

You do seem able to take the pitching hit. Were you planning on keeping Garza or Volquez? If you weren't, I don't understand why you would decline.

I would definitely do that trade. You have three of the top pitchers in the league. Plus Kinsler would be an upgrade at 2B. The only thing that should hold you back is (like the previous person said) if you were going to keep Garza or Volquez.

My keepers at the moment ... and no player can be kept longer than thru the 2012 season ... 6 keepers in total:

Jeter (can keep thru 2012 ... will see how he fares the rest of the way, but still a top SS)
Longoria (can keep thru 2011)
Crawford (can keep thru 2011)
McCutchen (can be kept thru 2012)
Ubaldo (can be kept thru 2011)
and for my sixth, it's potentially Ellsbury (thru 2011), Stanton (thru 2012), or Jaime Garcia (thru 2012) ... though I do plan on trying to swing a deal for another good keeper before the Aug 17th deadline.

thoughts given that info?

So, if you didn't have Garza or Volquez in mind, they're expendable. Kinsler is a nice upgrade. I would do it.
