Outfieldes suddenly available (WHIR)

Postby Bjorne Greece » Mon Jul 19, 2010 6:12 am

Dear fantasy kiwis (not the bird, but the tasty green fruit),

Rajai Davis, Drew Stubbs and Josh Willingham have all hit the free agent list over the last couple of days in my league. My most dropable outfielders would have to be Hunter Pence and Juan Pierre.

Would it be worth it to make a move? Pence & Stubbs are similar, Stubbs is equal or better in everything except for batting average. Davis and Pierre are pretty similar - Rajai doesn't steal as much but is a little better overall with the bat. Willingham has legit power that might not be a bad thing for me either.

Drop someone to pick up someone?

You definitely should hold on to Pence--Stubbs may have an exciting box score once every week, but it's not worth the performances he submits the rest of the work, typically.

Davis and Willingham are slightly more tempting, with Willingham being the most tempting. IF I were you, and IF I were to make a move, I'd drop Pierre for Willingham. It isn't necessarily like a "must-do", but if you want to shake things up, that's how I would do it. You have Rios (and Wright for that matter) to cover SBs well enough. I don't think you need to bring one back in if you were to cut Pierre (which is why I'd go Willingham over Davis).
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

It seems you have alotta guys with similar production as willingham that would sit on your bench, so if you were to make a move stubbs at least has the most upside and could pay the most dividends.

i'd keep what you have. Willingham doesn't add anything to your lineup. (if you feel the strong urge to pickup Willingham, I wouldn't drop Pierre, because I don't know if your SB can take it.)

Rajai Davis is the most attractive name for your team on that list, but his playing time could be cut if half if not more when Conor Jackson returns. I'd stay will what you got. I can't imagine Pence being a droppable commodity just to add a piece to the puzzle which you already have)

if you really feel like Beckham is back you could drop K.Johnson for either Rajai or Josh, that's a big if though
