Trade offered...is it good enough or should I try to counter

Postby chowder » Sat Jul 17, 2010 8:22 pm

I give brian wilson and alex gonzalez for adam dunn and brad lidge. I still have valverde and bell to close. 10 team H2H redraft points league with power batters being good due to no penalty for k's or avg. Closers get 7 pts per save...should I do this trade or try to get more than Lidge?

My team:
C: Montero
1B: Fielder
2B: Cano
SS: HanRam
3B: Reynolds
IF: LaRoche
OF: Bay, BJUpton, Hart
UT: Alex Gonzalez
Bench: Choo, Stanton, Polanco (IR)

SP: Wainwright, Hamels, Nolasco, Garcia
RP: Wilson, Bell
Bench: Valverde, Latos, Baker, Danks, Lilly Scherzer

His team:
C: Buck
1B: Loney
2B: Stewart
3B: Longoria
SS: A. Ramirez
IF: Dunn
OF: Ethier, Victorino, Huff
UT: Ortiz
Bench: Wells, Theriot, D. Young

SP (start 4): Jiminez, Pettitte, Lee, Pavano
RP (start 2): Capps, Gregg
Bench: Lidge, Pelfrey, Zito, Arroyo, Tommy Hunter

i think it's a fair offer. dunn is a better util option for you, so with him in the trade, it balances out the unbalanced wilson-lidge comparison. dunn is going to keep hitting homers; not sure about gonzalez. since you have valverde, i'd do it.

I think you're other closers are strong enough to carry Lidge. You're getting a huge upgrade in Dunn over Gonzalez so you've to take a hit somewhere.

I would do it. You really don't have a spot to put a second SS. Your league really takes the emphasis out of the middle infield, since the IF and UT slots should go to corner infielders or an OF for UT. You already have HanRam. This helps your team.
