Should I accept this trade? This season I've lost Sizemore and Morales for the year. Utley out for a while as is Shin-Soo Choo. In first place by 8 games, but want to stay there while some guys get healthy. My lineup is a little patched up with Sanchez and Fowler, and think I'd like another hitter. Figure Oswalt might regress a little in the second half...but worry about a trade to a contender upping his value. Thoughts?? Thanks.
I don't know. With Latos going on the DL, you've got two unknowns on your pitching staff (Gallardo/Latos).
I've been spending a lot of time looking at where Oswalt might end up as I'm in an NL only league and looking to improve pitching, and I'm not sure he goes anywhere. But don't quote me on that.
Overall...if you need the bat you might pull the trigger. Gotta figure that pitching is easier to find than hitting.
Also if this is a non-keeper I might try to deal Latos when he gets off of the DL due to his inning restrictions being a big concern come fantasy playoff time.
Astros fan here, I wouldn't deal Oswalt. Even if he does regress a little in 2nd half, his fantasy value can't decline, seeing as he has gotten the least run support in baseball, and has a 6-10 record despite a 3.08 ERA. If he gets dealt, even if his ERA goes up a little,it should be balanced out by getting more wins..
I don't see a need on offense that Mags would fix other than the injury prone OF, but I would be more inclined to stream a hot bat from the WW since when everyone is healthy you may struggle to find at bats.
I might hold up for a better 3rd baseman than another OF for Oswalt, maybe look at a player like Freese or Alvarez
I do notice that Ramirez is 32 and is injury prone and streaky as of late, so having somone on the bench to cover for him when he gets hurt again or goels cold would be great, other than carrying a 7th OF, I think he could hold out for more regardless of the position.
