I am working on a trade with an extremely knowledgeable owner to land a 2B/3B eligible player. He owns Prado, McGehee and Beltre, and as a Braves fan, I have been targeting Prado hardcore. He is obviously reluctant to trade away Prado given his status as league hits leader and upside. I currently have Hinske and Teahen eligible at 3rd, so any of these players would be an immediate upgrade over my current options.

The other owner has indicated he is more receptive to offering McGehee in a deal for which he lands Pena (he has indicated it might take Dunn to land Prado, which I am very reluctant to do), to which he has indicated he would be willing to turn it into a package rather than a straight-up deal.

I am considering offering my Carlos Pena (1B) for his Casey McGehee (2B,3B) and Matt Moore (SP). I could throw in someone like J Herrera to even it out as a 2-for-2 trade, as I would then be able to promote Arrieta in order to demote Moore to my farm.

What are your thoughts on the aforementioned offer? Would you make the offer if you were in my shoes? If not, what might you offer instead?

His roster:
C - Lucroy
1B - Ortiz
2B - Prado
3B - Beltre
SS - Theriot
OF - Willingham, Borbon, C Ross
Util - McGehee, Joyce
BN - Kearns, Paulino, Helton DL, Asdrubal Cabrera DL

SP - Dickey, Pineiro, Buehrle, Ely, JD Martin, Takahashi
RP - Balfour, Benoit, Oliver, Camp, Hensley, Villanueva, Aceves DL

Farm Club:
1 - Ackley, Dustin (0 Abs - 2B - Sea)
2 - Aumont, Phillippe (0 IPs - RP - Phi)
3 - Brown, Domonic (0 Abs - OF - Phi)
4 - Turner, Jacob (0 IPs - SP - Det)

Here's something to consider:

The talent/fantasy gap in between Prado and McGehee is a lot larger (in my opinion) than Dunn and Pena. I think Pena for McGehee (and Matt Moore) is a bit iffy, while I think Dunn for Prado is quite good. You have Stubbs to put into the OF lineup anyway (and I think he projects really well into the future) and LaPorta sitting on your team as well (who basically does the same thing as Pena and Dunn--low average, power).

It's up to you, but I think Prado's benefits far outweigh the slight difference in price.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

I agree that you pay more and get less with the pen a deal. That said, i would see if you can get prado + for Dunn and take it if so.
