Uggla and Silva for Lincecum??

Postby juan436585 » Wed Jul 14, 2010 5:28 pm

I have been offered this trade:

GET:
Dan Uggla AND Carlos Silva

for

GIVE:
Tim Lincecum

I know this doesn't seem like a good trade but I am in the top 3 in all pitching categories in my roto league and I am in desperate need for a 2B. There doesn't seem to be a solution in the waiver wire (best would be alberto callaspo) and i currently have to select from sean rodriguez, mike aviles, or clint barmes.

The rest of my starting pitching staff looks like this:

Tommy Hanson
Phil Hughes
Stephen Strasburg
Francisco Liriano
John Danks
Edinson Volquez

Do i make this trade???? Thanks for any advice offered!

Any advice anyone?

I'm actually leaning towards taking this trade but I wanted to get a couple more views on it before I do, maybe get talked out of it with some good arguments.

By the way, what does WHIR mean? Sorry newbie here.

No way in the world do i make this trade. Your staff is good, but full of young pitchers who are unproven for the entire length of the season. They say Strasburg is getting shut down soon to limit his innings. Uggla is good, but Silva will come back down to earth soon.. you can do a lot better for Lincecum than this.

Thanks for the response skimo, what should i do about my 2B situation then? should i just roll with sean rodriguez then? i tried to counter offer and do a straight up strasburg for uggla trade but that didnt take. Thanks for the help, i probably wont make this deal now that i think about it.

Thanks for the help.

Sit tight with rodriguez for now. I've actually had all (on my other team) of the waiver wire guys you mention in an attempt to fill my 2b hole. One thought might be to check on Brian Roberts he's 5 for 6 in a rehab assignment and looks to be back with the Orioles by the end of July. Might be a good option in a few weeks.

I agree with what I put in BOLD... I am currently in a pending trade for Tim Lincecum and had to trade away Braun... I mean, to get talent, you have to GIVE talent in return and this guy is trying to pull the sheet over your eyes and rob you blind! :-t

Yes, announce to the league (via a post on the message board) that Lincecum is available, if that's what you so choose to do, see what other people in the league offer you, and then go from there.

Good Luck Man! ;-D

Pick up Sean Rodriguez ! This guy is going to be a 20-20 2B this year. Plus he may be eligible for SS and OF in your league for future flexibility. How is this guy still on the waiver wire?
I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!

Thanks for all of the feedback guys, I am not going to take the deal and stick with sean rodriguez for my 2B. Problem with this league is that it is a 12 team league and there are only 6 active managers and this is a PAID league! i didnt think there would be so many dropouts with cash on the line. So out of the active managers, the guy offering me the trade is the only one with two good 2B.

You guys saved me from making a mistake! Much props! ;-D
