Bottom of the roster makeover...WHIR

Postby Whosyomamma » Wed Jul 14, 2010 12:44 pm

Looking to improve my roster to move up from 6th place for the 2nd half, please help! So here are my thoughts, please be brutally honest when responding:

Drop Bartlett and pickup A.Cabrera, as this would allow me to have a bench player eligible at both 2B and SS.
Drop CJ Wilson and pickup K.Medlen (need to use my #6 waiver spot)

Others on the wire in case you don't agree with the above:
Hitters-
J.Borbon
N.Morgan (good 2nd half hitter)
Y.Escobar
R.Theriot (also 2B/SS eligible)
D.Stubbs
C.Jones (yes Chipper is available - weekly leagues are tough to handle fragility)
S.Rodriguez
C.Crisp

Pitchers-
J.Zimmeran
J.Hellickson
T.Hunter
C.Richard
B.Myers
T.Lilly
J.Happ

Here is my team and league details (10-team H2H League - Weekly Rosters)
Start C,1B,2B,3B,SS,IF,4-OF,Util,5-SP,2-RP (Stats = R,HR,RBI,SB,BB,AVG,W,L,SV,K,ERA,WHIP)
C- G.Soto

Does every player start every week? or are some of them bench players?

with weekly rosters, there isn't a whole lot of benefit from having multi-eligible players. I think I'd stick with Bartlett and hope he corrects his ship and will stop losing playing time. (he's got more upside than Cabrera). I think Escobar, might be a better add than Cabrera, after going to a new team. His bat might reawaken.

and for Wilson and Medlen. I like Wilson more here too. Sure he's going through a tough patch, but with the Rangers in 1st place. He'll be running out there every 5 days competing. The Braves are competing too for 1st, but Medlen doesn't offer great peripherals, plus the NL East has some strong lineups he'll be facing.

please help

I like Escobar. I think getting a change in scenery will benefit. I think he'll return to his usually self.

2 others I forgot that are on the waiver wire:
Napoli (tough to drop Soto though)
M.Aviles (yet another 2B/SS eligible player).

I also like Escobar here ... as for CJ Wilson, maybe don't drop him just yet, as you never know if having Lee will take off pressure.

What about dumping Gabby Sanchez for Medlen? I don't see Gabby as that valuable when you already have Fielder.

Ok, so I'm keeping Wilson and not picking up Medlen even though if you look at the pure numbers it appears that Medlen has better ratios (just saying). But I'd like to close on this other topic that has been created in this thread in that I should drop Bartlett and pickup Yunel Escobar.

I'm all for the fact that last year was a fluke for Bartlett's power numbers but he's a legit .300 hitter with 20+ steals in those legs. Can I get some final comments just on this part of the OP? Bartlett or Escobar for the ROS?

I'd go with Escobar for ROS. Bartlett is too shaky right now... Thanks for your help on mine!
