Long term I see the trade going in your favor, short term about even with a slight edge to your trading partner. But nice deal either way. Keep Heyward if you get to keep 6 by the way!

Help me out please:

Agree with this statement, however I think it could be said that you came out a winner today too...getting 2 of the top 5 pitchers in baseball never hurts. Long-term, needless to say, you got MUCH stronger

I think Heyward = Braun from next year forward, Lester = Johnson however Lincecum will be better than Young and Oswalt in the future plus the fact that you get to keep one more player than you would have if you had kept both Young and Oswalt.

Like others have said it hurts your chances this year but next year you will be better off. Whether it was a good deal will depend on how you are in the standings and how important it is for you to win this year.

Please give your opinion on my trade: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=416703

I think it was a pretty fair trade. I would probably say that you came out slightly on top. Since you're in a keeper league I say you definitely won but it is still a fair trade and should be approved.

First off, there is no way that trade should be overturned. It is extremely debatable who got the better end of the deal. That said, I'm going to be the voice of dissent here... I think the other guy got the better end of the deal overall.

This year, Braun+Lester+Young+Oswalt >>>> Heyward+JJ+Timmy+Smoak (Braun >>> Heyward, Young >>> Smoak, Lester == JJ, and Timmy >> Oswalt)

Long term, if you only have 5 keepers, then all you did was swap Braun+Lester for JJ+Timmy, and I'd always rather keep hitters so I'd prefer Braun+Lester in that case.

Long term, if you have 6 keepers then you should make out better, but its not a foregone conclusion. You are basically swapping out Braun+Lester+Santana for Timmy+Johnson+Heyward. In that case, I think Braun>Heyward (Braun >> Heyward in 2011, Braun == Heyward in 2012), Lester==Johnson, and Timmy >> Santana (Timmy >>> Santana in 2011, Timmy > Santana in 2012).

So bottom line is that if you are out of it this year AND you are definitely keeping 6 players, then you might make out in the long run. But if you are still in the running this year OR you are only keeping 5 players (or both), then I think you lost the deal.
