Return to Draft, Trade, Keeper and Waivers Questions

I was offered Pujols for Wainwright/Broxton/Butler. Y! 12 team 5X5, NO current closers left on the wire. I feel like I'm supposed to say yes immediately, but Wainwright is the #1 fantasy SP in baseball so far (based on Yahoo's stat ranking) and if Wood stops closing, that leaves me with ONE closer. Thoughts? THANK YOU!!!

If you acquire Pujols......he'd replace Butler as one of your UTL players. A bit of an improvement, though Butler is a good player despite his power struggles. Your pitching is solid now, though losing your ace and one of your closers will put a dent into that. Lilly and Garcia's ERA's will take a little hike in the second half IMO. Vazquez could go either way, but has been good lately.
If you are confident in your pitchers, do the deal because Pujols will add both grat power and great average. If your hitting is among the top of the league (which it very well could be) and you have some questions about your pitching depth for the rest of the season (or it's not scoring near the top), don't do it. Keep in mind that there will be some replacement closers before the end of the season, one of whom you could snag.
Which of these SP's do you like?

I'd pass. I think you are right with your opinion on closers. You need Broxton and Wainright more then you need a Util improvement. I know that's contrary to popular opinion but I feel that way.

I would not do the deal with Broxton in it. If you could put Wood in for Broxton then I would do the deal. You need 2 sure closers. Your team looks pretty good as it is.

I agree with the above posters.
Pujols wont help all 'that' much.. see if you can pull off something for a closer
Its "Evan" Longoria... NOT "Eva"

Thanks for the help! You've got a really solid team, and while I understand the reaction that you're "supposed to" accept that deal for Pujols, I really don't think he gives enough of a boost in your case to justify throwing a pretty well balanced team out of whack.
I suppose you should take a look at whether you feel your offensive categories need the boost, and if your Pitching categories can take the hit. By the look of your team (and not knowing where you are in the standings), I doubt I'd accept if I were managing your squad.
Best of luck!

Agree with above. I also have Butler at 1B, and looked into a trade for Pujols. While Pujols is an upgrade, its not enough of an upgrade to justify what you're giving up.

it's far too much to give up for Pujols. Butler is going to continue to get better and losing the other 2 would be just a bad blow.

IS this a keeper league or redraft?? Actually either way it is just too much value, especially if you are sitll competing in saves because Broxton should have a better second have and Butler will improve
