help with a 3-team trade...

Postby cmcneff » Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:34 pm

it's tough leveling out a 3-team trade, but it seems like its necessary. only about 5 of the 10 teams in the league actively trade, and it's sometimes tough getting what you need in a trade without involving an additional party. i apologize if it gets confusing, but i could use your help deciding if this is fair or not...

TEAM A:
gets Tulo
gives Phillips
- he's got 3 2B (including Kinsler), needs a SS, and currently has a DL slot open

TEAM B:
gets Lincecum
gives Tulo, Hanson
- he's got Furcal at SS, and would like to open up a roster slot

TEAM C:
gets Phillips, Hanson
gives Lincecum
- he needs a 2B very badly

viewing all three trades, does this appear fair???

I like Team C's trade the best, but it's fair. If you are asking about vetoable, absolutely not. I always want to get the best package I can get in a trade, so I would take Team C.

thanks for the input. this is a sticky situation. all teams are likely to make the playoffs. i'm not team C, so i don't like knowing that one of the other playoff-bound teams is getting what seems to be the best deal. but, i still feel i've got the best of the three teams, even after the deal, so i might continue with it...

I would not want to be the team getting Tim L. I think he is hurt because he has not pitched well for the last 3 weeks. I would keep Hanson and Tulo. I do not think the league could veto the deal.

haha. i love that you point out that team B is the team you wouldn't want to be, because that's who i am. i know lincecum has been struggling, but i have one SS too many, and i need to open up a roster slot. the only way i thought to do this was to package Tulo with a SP to get an elite SP, and Lincecum's the only elite on his team. i could look to upgrade another spot on my roster, but i feel pretty confident about most of my offensive positions.
