Big trade involving Strasburg, Jimenez, ARod and Mauer

Postby Grizzlies » Mon Jul 12, 2010 4:19 pm

I've been offered a trade that I'm very tempted to accept. Would you take this, given my league format?

First, let me start out by stating that this is a 9-team total points league. I DO NOT CARE about WHIP, ERA, or BA. They are totally irrelevant in this league.

Points are determined by the following scoring system:
Batters - R(1), 1B(1), 2B(2), 3B(3), HR(4), RBI(1), SB(1), BB(1), HBP(1)
Pitchers - IP(1), W(10), CG(6), SO(10),SV(6), HLD(4), K(1),

I am currently in 4th place and the guy making the offer is in 2nd. Here is the trade:
I get Jose Bautista, Joe Mauer, Ubaldo Jimenez and I give Alex Rodriguez, Carl Crawford, Stephen Strasburg.

Here are the points by each of these guys, first for the season, followed by the last month:
Bautista - 347, 85
Mauer - 247, 68
Jimenez - 428, 93
ARod - 311, 94
Crawford - 389, 143
Strasburg - 134, 103

Here is my roster:
C - Mike Napoli
1B - Aubrey Huff
2B - Howie Kendrick, Dustin Pedroia (DL)
3B - Álex Rodríguez
SS - Jimmy Rollins
OF - Carl Crawford, Adam Jones, Álex Ríos, Nick Markakis, Jason Bay, Andrew McCutchen
SP - Tim Lincecum, Stephen Strasburg, Ryan Dempster, Josh Johnson, Ricky Romero, Joel Piñeiro, Clay Buchholz

Also, the following 3B are currently available: Aramis Ramírez, Chipper Jones, Gordon Beckham, Chase Headley, Miguel Tejada, Brandon Inge, José López

I wouldn't make the deal. Mauer looks like an injury risk at this point, and anyone who wants Strasburg should be REALLY overpaying right now.

Based on your scoring system, you'd be giving up players who put up the following point totals in the last month: 143, 103, and 94.
And getting: 93, 85, 68.

I'd pass.
