Travis Wood?

Postby italiano » Mon Jul 12, 2010 1:43 pm

Travis Wood took a perfect game into the 9th against the Phillies in his third major league start.

Well stupid me proceeds to drop Vincente Padilla and pick up Travis Wood based on that performance. One of my competitors wanted to pick him up but missed out because we have a weekly moves limit.

Now my competitor is offering me one of his pitchers for Travis Wood who might not even keep his job anyway.

My question is should i try and get Padilla back from the wire or should I hold on to Wood or should i trade Wood for Arroyo, De La Rosa or Cueto.

He also has Piniero, Matusz, Morrow, Hammel, Floyd, Bumgarner on his staff. But I believe he might give me Arroyo, De La Rosa or Cueto.

If i make a deal i want it to be fair for both sides - anybody have any suggestions.

honestly, i'd hold on to Wood. there's always risk of him being demoted, but i think he'll have enough of an opportunity in the next couple weeks to prove he belongs in the majors. Leake, while his ERA wasn't too shabby, allowed baserunners left and right. check out his WHIP. Granted, Wood hasn't had many starts so the sample size is a bit small, but his WHIP is half of what Leake's was, even if you ignore his bad outings. Leake was simply lucky. If Dusty decides to keep Leake over Wood, the man's insane. Maloney's just a spot starter to fill in for injuries. he was last year, he will continue to be this year. Dusty's never been a man concerned with his young pitcher's arms, so i'm assuming he'll let Wood do his thing. But he may finally learn his lesson. we'll have to wait and see. but given the options you have, my number one suggestion would be to wait and risk it on Wood. if you're too nervous about the demotion, which is perfectly fine, i'd go with Cueto.

help with mine?

i like De La Rosa......gives you lots of strikeout and lets not forget the guy was on fire before his injury
