Player value

Does anyone else try to monitor player value? I wanted to post all-star break rankings for our league (for fun and I think it helps everyone understand player value, which makes for better trades), but pulled back because I noticed significant differences in value from Rototimes' player rater and the player values from Rotoworld's "Season Pass," which supposedly is tailored to our league's settings.

For example, Phil Hughes' value on Rotoworld is 3.37 (19th best pitcher), but Rototimes lists him as just a $6 player (the elite players are near $40).

So my question is how can I be sure which ratings are the most accurate for our league? Also if anyone uses any that I'm not aware of, let me know.

Note: We are 4X4 (Avg., HR, RBI, SB / W, S, ERA, WHIP) with draft, not auction.

If it is not an Auction League, the player salaries should not matter. Each owner has a value on the players and trying to establish a player salary in a league that does not use them is meaningless at best.

Wasn't referring to salaries, just player value. I think if you have a league full of guys overvaluing their players it makes it harder to negotiate trades. Aside from four-category players, it can be difficult to compare the value of multiple players (e.g. how does a solid starter compare to a hitter, etc.).

Salaries are a great way to compare player value, but different sites are obviously going to have different values, just how different owners will have different values. You could take the average of each to make the value more of a consensus. Keep in mind that the value is also probably meant for standard leagues. Leagues like yours that don't use Ks will have different values for players.
