Any really early 2011 rankings out there?

Postby Bloody Sox » Fri Jul 09, 2010 1:47 pm

Does anyone know of any good super early 2011 rankings out there? In my main league you need to forfeit draft picks to keep players, and so the only way to properly evaluate trades now is to have an idea of where a guy is going to be drafted next year. I found one set online, but they are from mid-June... I'd prefer a more recent set.

Specifically, I am trying to determine where Carlos Santana will go in drafts next year. I have both Santana and Miguel Montero, so I'm looking to trade the better keeper value (Santana) and need a way to gauge his value.

That is pretty much impossible unless you know how Santana is going to hit the next 3 months. Looking where Weiters went last year might be able to give you the best estimate.

True, but you can say the same thing about the accuracy of preseason rankings - you have no idea if they are accurate, they are just projections based on best estimations. Same thing here, since keeper based trades would be made now. Also, it wouldn't matter how accurate they were - I just need to convince the other owner :-)

Wieters is probably a good comp - thanks. I've seen multiple places where Santana is ranked about equal to McCann, so maybe I can split the difference between McCann's and Wieters' MDP this preseason, which would put him around the 6th-7th round.

I think the closest you're going to be able to come to something like this is an updated keeper ranking. Rotoworld.com has Santana at #148 overall right now. Mauer, McCann, V-Mart, Weiters, and Montero are the only catchers ahead of him (Posey is #149).

Not sure how much that helps you.
