The Yankees can buy those stats every year. Great deal the M's, turned Phillippe Aumont, Tyson Gillies, and J.C. Ramirez into Jesus Montero and David Adams. If this looks horrible for any team I think it's the phillies for giving Lee away.
Yeah, but they got Halladay, and they only could have had Lee for this year anyway. I think they came out well overall.

That guy is a genius I tell you, a genius! Anyone who can take a team with $110m payroll and 100 losses and turn them in into a team with an $85m payroll and 100 losses with the #6 prospect in baseball in just 2 short years is amazing.

He will get traded for prospects.
He's pitched much better recently but it would be a good plan for owners to send out feelers for Javier to see if they can score him cheap and luck out if he ends up back in the NL.
Wow, this certainly helps the Yanks immediately as lee has been effective in the AL with cleveland and seattle, but this certainly hurts them longterm. On a team that is aging, more youth is traded for a 30+ y.o. player. I''m surprised the Yanks are giving up on Montero this quickly but I guess what are a few prospects when you can significantly improve the possibly of back-to-back titles. I don't like this move as a Yankees fan as I am not a big believer in Cliff Lee, but it is what it is.

If they sign him they have to give up draft picks to Seattle. If they trade for him and re-sign him they don't. And if they don't re-sign him, then they get the draft picks.
