just to give my input on the main topic in this thread, and I know its done with

but as a Heyward owner in a keeper league, I wouldnt take any pitcher for him not named Strasburg (who I already have)

I'll just say wow.

It is becoming extremely evident to me that I will never get Heyward on my team, and I'm completely fine with that.

well.. thats the bit right there.

In my keeper league the following players were drafted, picked up, or traded for in their rookie year and have never played for another team since:

also, our draft original draft was in David Wrights rookie year, so any player drafted before that had no possibility of making this list. but you can bank on the fact that anyone that had a breakout rookie year would have made this list also. ex. Pujols, Miggy, Teixeira.

based on your philosophy of taking proven assets and not gamling on potential, you would have zero chance on owning any of these players. so divide up the rest of the good players and remember that the rest of the league also has equal oppertunity at those players as well.

also, curiously, notice the lack of pitchers on this list.. they just don't have the staying power and consistancy that hitters do..

I did two trades that worked out in my deep deep 12 team 40 man roster.

Traded (April 27th)

Ben Sheets and Jim Johnson (2 days before going down as balt closer)
for
Nick Markakis (On top of that the owner dropped sheets last week and I picked him up for the 2nd half)


Traded (May 22nd)

Aaron Hill, James Loney, Phil Hughes and Buster Posey (while he was still in the minors)
For
Miguel Cabrera and Hudson (who has been lights out)

In a 12 team, 8 player keeper league, I got Lance Berkman for a 5th round pick (equivalent of a 13th rounder in a redraft) and started him for the first time on Monday in my DH slot. Keep in mind the guy I am trading with is out of the running and building towards next year. Of course, he doesn't think Lance is one of his top 8 or so players.

4 HRs in his first three games on my team. Sweeeeet!!

I'd say, trading Morneau for Crawford was a great deal for me - I dealt Morneau when he was hitting almost .380, and he's still been solid..but Crawford has been on another level since I've gotten him - unreal. I am using Berkman in place of Morneau, who has been on fire.

Another one - Trading Hughes for Haren, Haren has been pretty solid since I acquired him, while Hughes has been getting lit up recently.
