is it the Manager/General Manager that calls the players to inform them? Infante's phone rings and he is told they have some news for him. his first thought would be hes traded. nope not traded, your an all star! at that point he would have had to think it was a prank call, all star, yeah right.
i cant think of a player who was a worse selection. Infante could be the worst player ever selected as an all star. how are these all star numbers? 1 HR, 3 SB, 23 R, 22 RBI, .311 AVG. its not like he was the only player from the Braves to give them a player. not only are there way more deserving players in the NL, there is a more deserving player on his own team. you could have picked Glaus over Infante, 14 HR, 56 RBI, 41 R
I'm actually gonna stand up and defend my boy Omar Infante here. When's the last time Charlie manuel managed an all-star game? 2008. That was the really really long all-star game. I bet you in that game Manuel was thinking he'd love to have somebody in the 13th inning that he coudl put in at almost any position if somebody got injured. So when he filled out these rosters, he probably figured he'd put somebody on the roster who wouldn't play except in emergency, but who is the best utility man in the league. Omar Infante fits that billing quite well.... that being said it's hard to think of him as an all-star.....

Take Juan Uribe, then. At least take someone who's been an everyday player.
congratulations Omar Infante, you have entered territory unlike anyone else. not that you are an all star, but the worst all star ever! worst all time! http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=j ... rees070410 as mentioned Manuel could have picked Uribe, who has better numbers and plays multiple positions- .256 AVG, 39 R, 12 HR, 46 RBI. new rule for this season also makes the Infante pick seem really stupid. one player can re enter the game after having allready played. so it wasnt like Infante was NEEDED incase you run out of players for certain positions. this selection of Infante was just bad, bad bad bad!
holy crap I didnt even realize Alex Rios didnt make it
biggest Snub?? Him or Votto, both of them could make arguments to be starters, not only reserves.
AL could have been easy, select Choo as Clev Rep, Rios to replace him at least, Carmona shouldnt be there
NL Votto should be there over Howard hands down, CarGo I am sure will replace Heyward.
How the best team in the NL has only 1 all-star rep, when they have the best pitching in baseball is beyond me. Bell, Latos and Gregerson all deserved a shot.

I hadn't even seen that rule. It sort of amazes me that, as bad as that pick seemed to me, it now looks much, much worse.
