Drop Mike Leake for Jeremy Hellickson?

Postby hawk1226 » Thu Jul 01, 2010 12:53 pm

My league is a keeper league. I'm worried that Leake is going to be limited in the second half of the season and Jeremy Hellickson will probably be a better keeper and starter by the end of the season anyway. I believe that I can to go with one less starter until the All Star break (and a little after), so should I drop Leake to stash Hellickson?

My Pitching:
Greinke, Marcum, Hamels, Scherzer, Garcia, Leake

I'd try and package him up with one of your other guys for a positional upgrade first, rather than just cut him straight up. Long term I think Hellickson >>> Leake, but with Davis pitching ok lately, there's no real talk of bringing Hell Boy up these days. All that means is that he may sit on the wire just a little longer, just long enough to allow you to cut a deal.

If that doesn't work, then I'd drop Leake for Hellickson - you're pitching is good enough that yo could get by for now and you'd be setting yourself up nicely for the future.
