Use #1 Waiver on Jason Bay..?

Postby Buttermilk Pancake » Thu Jul 01, 2010 3:42 am

Jason Bay was just dropped outright. What are his 2nd half projections?? I have the #1 priority on the waiver wire, and though pitching is my bigger concern at the moment is his upside too big to pass up?

The way he has played I do not think he is worth a #1 waiver. I would pass and hope he clears.

I'm going to disagree. Jason Bay will probably not live up to what we expected at the beginning of the season (I have come to terms with this as someone who owns him in my league), but given your outfield and the fact that it really can only go up for Bay, I think you should grab him. I might try and trade him when he gets hot, but I would never have dropped him. He has too much talent to be on the waiver wire. At any moment he can get out and be a dominant offensive force for you. Yes, his power is going to take a hit because he is playing the Met's stadium, but when he breaks out of his current slump that probably led to him being dropped, he will hit for decent average and will put up very good rbi numbers hitting behind reyes, wright, etc...I think it's rare to see someone with that much potential land on the waiver list.

Hopefully that helps. If you don't mind, can you give me some advice?
