Lester for Lincecum in a dynasty? WHIR

Postby curl » Thu Jul 01, 2010 12:31 am

I'm in a 20 team, 25 keeper head to head league. Categories are 6x6 with holds and OPS as the extras.

I was offered the following trade:

My Jon Lester and Matt LaPorta

for Tim Lincecum and Eric Young Jr.

Now I'm currently of a mind that the differences between Lester and Lincecum are more due to perception than anything else. And I have noticed that Lincecum's velocity on his fastball have dropped since he came into the league which is another reason I'm a bit gun shy. So am I crazy for questioning Timmy here? I am a playoff team, so losing a guy like LaPorta who appears like he might be on track for the second half is difficult for me. Then again, this could be the perfect time for me to sell high on him. So, thoughts?

Will he do it straight up, without the LaPorta compenent? If so, I'd do it for sure. Even with that, I'd still probably do it. Lincecum will be fine methinks. And I'm not really sold on LaPorta anyway.

As good as Lester is, I feel Lincecum is still a top 5 SP despite his struggles. It's a little concerning how his starts have been so far, but I'm willing to bet he turns it around. Definitely a tough trade though since Lester has been great too. I don't know a lot about LaPorta's situation or how much he'll help in the second half.

For keepers purposes though, I'd say Lincecum > Lester.

Is Lincecum one of the top 3 aces I listed here? viewtopic.php?t=415938

Here's my feeling: Chase Utley and Brian Roberts are getting up tehre in age, and Uggla is too for that matter, so obtaining a top shelf 2b will be that much harder in the future. EYJ is a good young 2b who will take Roberts place on the top 5 of 2b for many years to come.

Plus, I like Lincecum in any day over Lester, so I do this deal pretty quick.

So you think EYJ stays at 2nd base then? I guess he's my main concern, particularly since I'm looking . I recall earlier in the year they had him out in the outfield, but I don't follow the Rockies so I don't know what happened there.
