Need help at 3B *WHIR*

Postby k.k. » Wed Jun 30, 2010 9:06 pm

Need a little help at 3B. Glaus and McGehee aren't getting it done anymore. J.Lopez is available as a free agent, dumped by another team, and Aramis Ramirez is there too. Do you think making the switch for either or both of them is a good plan? It's a H2H re-draft league.

Leave your link, WHIR.

yeeeearrrghhhh you know, jose lopez is one of those guys who starts off all teixeira-like but then in teh end has ~25/90 type numbers, but in teh end when you factor in the average and the runs and all of htat, he doesn't rank especially high. this year his annual pilgrimage to fantasy respectability is a bit slow, as the mariners are essentially a steaming load of hoo-ha, cliff lee and felix hernandez notwithstanding.

i'd be more prone to hold on to ron coomer reincarnate, aka casey mcgehee (i keep wanting to call him willis, but i reckon he'd have had 2 knees for the whole championship game) being here in chicago i can tell you that aramis is on an all-time WTF kick and the cubs are just a monumental pile of suck and as their color man bob brenly said in the immediate wake of the carlos zambrano outburst "they've been a dead-ass team" and welp, now the cubs have zambrano set as the scapegoat (see: milton bradley in 2009) and lou is starting to try and feign a sense of humor in press conforences and it's just ugly... ugly ugly ugly. save marmol, i wouldn't recommend anyone on the cubs.

also, i tried the ramirez thing about a week or two before he went on teh DL. one of my leagues is a goofy weekly league, and i was fortunate enough to get a HR and 4 RBI out of him for that week before i, wisely, switched to the resurgent adrian beltre.

from there.. shoot. make a trade? maybe roll the dice and pray on pedro alvarez? that's a tough one. as it stands, i know that mcgehee has slowed down considerably, but look at the brewers as a whole... even ryan braun is like .300/11/49/11 or something, prince has been in the tank... corey hart had his hot 2-3 weeks and still lurks on rosters accordingly... so i mean, the theory is that the brewers will be out of it and just start to hit for themselves and i mean, mcgehee is in the middle of all of that so you could do a lot worse than him... perhaps you could trade him to someone desperate? dunno.

sorry i can't be of much more help than running in place, but it seems like you'd make a lot of lateral-movement-at-best.

here's mine should you feel especially giving >>> viewtopic.php?t=415854

sinicalypse, thanks for taking some time to give me some input. Muchly appreciated! B-)

McGehee just smacked a HR tonight and his batting avg is back up in the last 7 and last 15 looks, so I might end up punting Glaus when all is said and done. I'm going to watch Aramis Ramirez closely. Hopefully he can turn his season around. The Cubs need his once potent bat badly.

I'd stick with McGehee as you say, and def keep an eye on Aramis. He's working on a new grip but I like his chances to heat up in the 2nd half, he's too good not to.

if you get a chance
