How many of you own Tulo and Pedroia?

Postby Verminator » Sat Jun 26, 2010 11:54 pm

Weep with me!! :~( :~( :~(

My replacements are essentially J Uribe and C Barmes... I hope that a) they can at least produce 80% of the value of Tulo or Pedroia over the next 6 weeks and b) Tulo and Pedroia can return to at least 80% of their former selves after 6 weeks.

The only silver lining... my team batting average is about .290 and the next highest opponent is roughly .275... and steals are fairly easy to replace.

Just gotta look at the bright side! ;-D

Ouch!

I wonder if anyone owns the Trifecta (Morales, Tulo, Pedroia). I know there are a lot of underperforming high picks every year that have disappointed, but to lose three high performing/high round draft picks to freak injuries would lead one to believe that one has received the ultimate curse by the fantasy baseball gods!

Tulo was a keeper for me so luckily he wasn't a top 3 pick for me, but Pedroia was. Oh well, I'm hoping they are 100% when they come back, 80% is underachieving haha.

I don't even know who my replacements are... this reminds me I should probably look into it.

Tulo Morales Roberts in one league

I had Morales in one of my main leagues.

But honestly I'd rather suffer losing a guy from an injury like this than to put up with under performing players. I'm not saying that you don't lose out from injuries like this (because Morales, Tulo, and Pedroia were all playing well) but at least an injury lets you know that you need to take action immediately. There's no middle ground. A guy gets hurt you replace him. End of story.

By contrast, take someone who's drastically under achieving (Lind, ARam, Berkman, Chipper, McClouth, etc). What the heck do you do with them? Do you ride it out? Do you make a move via a trade or add/drop? Stick them on on your bench if you have room and just eat the roster spot until they improve? Depends on the situation, but I think that poor handling of under performing players will drag you down as much, if not more, than suddenly losing a guy via injury.

I literally am so upset Pedroia got hurt. I don't own him but I wanted to see Cano greatly surpass him this year. Now that he is hurt he can't play :,-(

Uh oh... I am also a proud owner of VMart in the same league... and am crossing my fingers AGAIN!! :-[

Jake, you make a great point. There is nothing worse than riding out an underperforming player or, worse yet, an underperforming player who is not disclosing an injury. It is better to be a Tulo or Pedroia owner than an Aramis Ramirez owner.
