So I'm a fantasy football guy (don't hate) over here from the other side. Always loved baseball, but haven't played fantasy in a few years. And in the time sabermetrics seems to have taken over. I read the start of the NL Cy Young thread until it was clear that I no longer knew what I was reading about.
BABIP seems pretty clear to me, but FIP? xFIP? WAR? If I'm going to hang out here, I need to catch up quickly! Can anyone recommend a clear resource to understand these new acronyms? Thanks.
I'm not exactly a beginner to Sabermetrics and have used a lot of the amazing resources you can find on the web about that topic. But I have never found a really good Sabermetrics 101. What I'm looking for is something that starts at the very beginning but then gradually moves into more complicated topics.
And, dare I show my age, ideally I would love one of those old fashioned things called a book.
Anyone have a good pointer?
There are a few things with the New York Yankees that never change. That's pride, tradition, and most of all, we have the greatest fans in the world. -Derek Jeter, 9/21/08 -- last words from old Yankee Stadium
