Drop Napoli for Smoak?

Postby Carnac » Thu Jun 24, 2010 12:17 pm

I have Montero at C. Napoli is very streaky.

12 team, 5x5, H2H, keeper (keep 3) no keepers if drafted in first 3 rounds so Fielder, Pedroia and Haren can't be kept.

Team

C Montero, 1B Fielder, 2B Pedroia, 3B Sandoval, SS Scutaro, OF Ethier JUpton Span, U Prado, B Kubel, Napoli

SP Haren, Weaver, E. Santana, Lilly, Nolasco, Takahashi, Bonderman
RP Nunez, Simon, Heilman
DL Jurrjens, M. Gonzalez

I can drop Heilmann for Perez or Demel later today.

Do I pick up Smoak? WHIR 100%

I am a huge Napoli fan, and now that he is playing 1B, not only will he get more AB's than he would as a C only, but he will have less wear and tear affecting his hitting numbers. I would keep him.

Thanks for help on mine.

i wouldn't drop Napoli, i think with the news the previous poster mentioned, Napoli has trade value in a 12 team league.

You know what your going to get with Napoli. Good power with avg to below avg everything else. Smoak is filled with potential so why not see if he can do better than what Napoli can give you. At least you have another catcher to fill in.

Based on the "regular AB's at 1B" logical, have you thought of dropping Montero for Smoak? I know Miguel is hot right now, but Snyder has not been terrible and could take some AB's away. Napoli/Smoak > Montero/Napoli.

Wow, Totally Disagree with this guy ^^^

Montero is a Beast. Especially since they've been hitting him 4th. He plays in a Hitters park and look at his numbers from last year in limited At Bats. His knee is a concern, but he's shown he can hit consistently. Snyder is Clearly the backup in AZ. And yeah, Montero isnt going to play 7 days a week .. so yes, Snyder will get some at bats, lol ... Smoak Definitely has potential .. but so far, very, very inconsistent. I'd rather have the more proven guy hitting cleanup.

Thanks everyone. I decided to stay put. Will use Napoli at C on Montero's off days and plug him in at U others. Also gives me backup in case Montero gets hurt again.

Appreciate all the input.
