a W, a WHIP under 1, and 9 k's.

a little surprised by just the 6 innings, but I suppose when you have that large of a lead, might as well take it easy on him.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

What happened here???

3.2IP, 6hits, 4ER, 4BB, 3K?!

I guess it was a little foolish to expect the control to return as quickly as the velocity did.

Yeah. His return to usefulness remains a work in progress. I'm hanging onto him, but the next start (or two) could be make or break.

I hope he can turn it around and show the stuff he had on his first start. I traded away Hamels on the hopes of this.

I'm staying the course for now. Volquez's upside is huge, IMHO. If he does come around he'll provide a super boost to fantasy teams down the stretch. It's amazing how quickly the season is flying by eh?

Yeah, I got David Wright for Hamels.
The rest of my staff is pretty good.

Getting Wright for Hamels is a great trade. I picked up Volquez while he was still on the dl back in June and traded CC for Braun. After seeing Edinson bounce back in yesterday's game I feel pretty good about things now.

After that horrible August and getting sent down, Volquez is back up with Cincy and getting the start Sat with Harang moving to the bullpen. Volquez pitched well in two starts in the minors ("Volquez rebounded in two starts at the Low-A level, with 19 strikeouts and four walks in 13 innings."CBS Sports) but is obviously a dangerous start. It comes against PIT though. Anyone considering giving him a go? I am in a H2H playoff matchup this week and my ERA and WHIP is already pretty high thanks to my pitching staff collectively sucking, so I'm thinking of giving Volquez another shot. Anyone else?

Glad I started Volquez vs. PIT. He was awesome. Stellar. If he can keep this up he'll help fantasy owners in the all important playoff rounds.
