Is the old Jose Reyes back?

Postby Zito is God » Wed Jun 23, 2010 8:36 pm

In the month of June Reyes' has been arguably the best hitter in the majors. As his hits pile up and his average is getting close to .300, his speed looks like its back and he is even hitting for some power. Is it safe to say he is back? Is it a stretch to view him as a potential 1st round pick again next year if this continues?

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

# 2 overall player in Yahoo over the last month (hit another dinger and stole another base tonight), but only # 74 on the season. If he keeps up this pace, then yes, he can be a 1st round pick again, but he'll have to keep up a high pace to be considered to be that level again. Too early to tell what his value will be next year, but obviously the buy low opportunity for this year has been shut for a while. ;-D

Well, Hamilton has been better, no question really. Reyes has been close, though. He is a first rounder next year the way I see it, because the first 6 weeks after his return was just a typical slump augmented by the injury. But as I said like a day before he caught fire :D he's a streaky player as it is. The super hot will cancel out the super cold and we'll likely get a slightly below average season for Reyes compared to his usual numbers. That's still back-end first round value IMO.
