I'm just messing with you. That reminds me of when I started messing around making sigs and stuff. Messing with layering and colorizing is good stuff to start with. You'll quickly find, if you haven't all ready, that it's tough to make stuff with a lot of detail, and vibrant colors, and keep it under Cafe limits. Just so you know, reds are the biggest KB suck out of all the colors. Also fine patterns suck up a lot of space as well. I usually sacrifice the bright colos for more detail, but that's just me. It's a good start man, just keep at it. Every few weeks you'll figure something new out, I'm not a pro by any stretch of the imagination, I've been at it for a couple years and am learning new stuff all the time.
Another piece of advice is to make stuff that's not sigs, that way you can really explore and mess around with all the tools. You're not so restricted that way, like make some wallpaper or something.
