Liriano for Victorino or Prado

Postby drtodddds » Tue Jun 22, 2010 8:41 am

I've been offered Liriano for either Victorino or Prado. I could use some pitching, but can I afford to lose one of these guys for Liriano. Which one? Was thinking Victorino as I can't really afford to lose a 3B. So what's a fair trade for Liriano? Pull the trigger or stay pat?

5x5 10 team keeper roto league (5 keepers)
My team:
C Wieters
1B M. Cabrera
2B Kinsler
3B Prado
SS S. Drew
MI H. Kendrick/K. Johnson
OF(can start 5) Kemp, Victorino, Werth, Abreu, Coghlan, Boesch, Span
Uti spot
SP Jaime Garcia, T. Hudson, T. Hunter, Jimenez, Nolasco, Beckett
RP Hoffman, Wagner, Simon, Wood

Thanks for the advice

I'd do it for Prado. I actually own Liriano and Prado so I have a good perspective on both of them. Prado is a limited upside guy (an upside which is being seen right now). He will get on base and score runs (if his team produces). What I mean by that is his run production will be volatile based on how the rest of the lineup fares (though this is obvious I guess. It's not something you can absolutely count on. He will not be a power or steals guy.

On the other hand, Victorino's steals and a reasonable average are both assured. He also hits for power at times. I think he helps your team more, especially in a 10-teamer in which there are probably some good 3B on the waiver wire considering it's a deep year at the position.

Liriano will give you solid starts with a high K-rate and a solid offense backing him up. I think you can replace Prado with less of a loss than what you are gaining in Liriano.

Prado is having a great year but i would make that trade if you want pitching...Twins are in first place and will win lots of games for Liriano...he gives you good stats across the board...
No to victorino...he is too valuable to give up for a pitcher unless his name was Jimenez/Greinke/Halladay/CC/Lincecum/Strasburg

I really disagree with this guy's assessment of Prado. He is performing at a level that has been consistant since early last year, regardless of how well the team is playing around him. And it is not like the Braves are a bad team, so chances are that the offense will continue to be strong supporting his run production.

That being said, I don't know that I would move either one for Liriano. If I moved one, it would be Victorino.

Can you help me with this Granderson for SP deal?

Thanks for the advice guys. Seems the concensus is Victorino's value is higher than Liriano? I don't however have anyone to slide into the 3B position if I lose Prado, so that's my hesitation at trading him. I do think he's valuable as a legit .300 hitter and he should score about 100R. Waiver wire is slim pickings for 3B...A. Ramirez, Tejada, Chipper. I have enough value in the OF to fill in Victorino's spot, maybe not as completely, but Kemp, Werth, Abreu, Span, is pretty good, and Coghlan and Boesch are playing well.

Was thinking, this guy has other good SP I could target too...Haren, Hanson, Kershaw, Niemann, Latos. Maybe one of those guys seems a better trade for Victorino than Liriano?

I've never been a big Victorino fan and with your depth at the OF position and lack of depth at the 3B position, I'd trade Victorino for Liriano. I own Liriano in both of my leagues and I've been loving is so far. Good ERA/K's and he should get a good amount of wins because the Twins are always in contention. Thanks for your help with mine.
