Cruz for Holliday? WHIR

Postby dubstar » Mon Jun 21, 2010 8:38 pm

I almost had this guy ready to give me Holliday for Stanton straight up, then he decided against it and said he would give me Holliday for Cruz. Obviously if both healthy I would want Cruz all day long, especially since he would be a 5th round keeper. Holliday would be round 2. He said he could give me a pitching upgrade also in the trade.

His top starters are: Cain, Gallardo, Hanson. See anything that makes this deal work? Or should I just stick with Cruz and hope he stays healthy.

I am currently 6.5 games out of the playoffs after 7, yes 7!!!!!! losing weeks in a row. My confidence is crushed, but I know there are several weeks left and I have a solid team on paper.

10 team h2h keeper(keep 5): avg., hr, rbi, r, sb, xbh
era, w, sv, k, whip, qs

C Santana
1B Fielder
2B Pedroia
3B Sandoval
SS Andrus
OF Kemp, Hart, R Davis
UTIL Glaus
BN Stanton
DL Cruz

SP Greinke, Kershaw, Billingsley, Baker, Romero, Liriano, Floyd, Kennedy
RP Soria, Cordero, Corpas
DL Street

I would ask for Holliday and either Cain or Hanson for Cruz and Baker or Billingsley(you need immediate help).

Thanks for the response. Is this something that really makes sense for me you think? Or that's just who would make the deal fair?

I think it would be an upgrade for you as I'm betting cruz won't run that much the rest of the year(not after two hammy injuries). however it's not as substantial of an upgrade as your rollins idea.

You're probably right about Cruz not running, I am just trying to decide if I would be keeping him for next year...

Yea, the Rollins idea would be great, if it panned out.

you would keep cruz i'd imagine:

fielder, pedroia, kemp, cruz and greinke would be my 5 keepers on your current team.

I'd do the trade if you could get Cain or Gallardo for Bills, Floyd or Kennedy. Do you know what pitcher you'd have to give back to him?

Holliday usually gets hot towards the end of the year and Cruz has been an injury waiting to happen every game he gets into. I like the gamble here, and LOVE it if you can snare Cain or Gallardo too. Good luck
