H2H to Roto

Postby jake_twothousandfive » Sun Jun 20, 2010 3:51 pm

I took the totals from my 5x5 H2H league and converted them into a Roto score for each team. Then compared the results to the current standings. (Both the totals and W-L-T exclude the current week.)

Roto Standings H2H Standings
Points W-L-T
1 Team A 63 1 Team B 62-32-6
2 Team B 62 2 Team E 57-41-2
3 Team C 61.5 3 Team A 53-42-5
4 Team D 60.5 4 Team C 49-45-6
5 Team E 60 5 Team F 49-48-3
6 Team F 56 6 Team H 41-49-10
7 Team G 55 7 Team G 41-51-8
8 Team H 47.5 8 Team I 40-53-7
9 Team I 42.5 9 Team D 41-54-5
10 Team J 42 10 Team J 37-55-8

Point? To prove to my league mates my team is better than it's current record. I'm Team D.

Just the luck of the draw. The best teams in real sports don't win all the time as well either.

I personally prefer the element of luck and the stunning upsets and disappointments.

4th in a 10 team roto league is not a good team.

At least baseball you have 22-23 weeks to work around it, compared to football where you're only wading through 13-14 weeks.

I do this, too (in fact I just did it this morning). However, this is skewed because of the nature of each game. Something as simple as a team saying "screw Holds" in H2H can have a huge disparity between their H2H ranking and their Roto ranking, and won't mean their team isn't as 'good'. It may not be as well rounded, but you don't necessarily need that to win H2H. You also start/sit players differently in H2H than in Roto, especially on weekends with categories up for grabs, ratios, etc. It's a decent exercise, but it doesn't really show a whole lot.
