Trying to move up

Postby wkpdpack » Thu Jun 17, 2010 11:21 pm

Recently I've dropped in the standings. I'm in a 12 team keeper league, 5x5 scoring and am currently sitting 4th. Top 3 teams are in the money. My pitching has been pretty solid and I think I've got a fairly decent offense but they have been slumping badly as of late. I've got both Span and Damon that don't offer much of anything but are average in everything. I'd like to acquire someone who can get me a ton of steals. Right now if I can gain 6 stolen bases on my computers, I can gain 7 pts. I'd also like to shore up my closer situation since Fuentes and Lindstrom could lose their job at any moment. I've listed 2 teams below that are pretty much dealing to better their keepers. Any suggestions on an offer to make to help me win this year would be appreciated.

Do I deal any of my definite keepers for multiple solid guys or go with some smaller deals?

My team:
C - Suzuki, Posey
1B - Howard
2B - Uribe
3B - Wright
SS - Drew
MI - A. Gonzalez
CI - Morneau
OF - Braun, Kemp, Span, Ludwick, Damon
U - Ross
p - Franklin, Fuentes, Hamels, Jimenez, C. Lee, Lewis, Lindstrom, C. Wilson, Niemann
Bench - Myers, K Wood, Zito
DL - Roberts, B. Anderson, Dice-K, O. Hudson
Minor bench - Iannetta, Fowler, Snider

Team A:
Bell (for saves)
Granderson
Hughes
Kershaw
Loney
Martinez
Pedroia
C. Pena
Soriano
Youkilis
Peavy
Floyd

Team B:
Doumit
Soto
A. Hill
Sandoval
Hamilton
Bourn
Konerko
J. Upton
Marmol
J. Santana
B. Wilson
Willingham
G. Jones

Thanks for the help with mine.

What is your keeper situation? It's a little hard to respond to this without that info.

Without that info, I'd say that for now, it might be best to just stand pat. I don't see any real depth from which you can swing a deal. Wait to see if any great value emerges on the WW... or just perceived value. I'm not big on rookies as their inconsistency can plague a team, but pick 'em up and try to deal them to the guy in your league that loves upside.

Who would you be willing to deal?
Team B looks like the better route.. Bourn and Marmol seem to be exactly what you want.

We keep 7 players from year to year with no limits. We can also keep up to 5 guys on our minor league bench. The guys on my minor bench right now can stay there until next year even if they are called up. If I trade them, the new owner may also place them on their minor league bench as well.

I'm willing to deal anyone that will get me players to help me win now. I've offered a few team Ryan Howard. Would probably prefer not to deal Braun or Kemp, both young and both a lot of talent, plus they can help in all 5 categories.

Try dealing Span or Damon and Lindstrom for Bourn and Marmol. A small but effective trade.
