Magnetic bracelets, do they work?

I've been seeing commercials for Magnetic bracelets They are supposed to help for various ailments like arthritis, circulatiion, pain and balance and so on. I've also seen some ball players wearing the necklace version. My question is, DO THESE THINGS WORK? or is it just some placebo gimmick? Has anyone used one of these?

It seems several starting pitchers out there are wearing a magnetic necklace these days. One account holder at the credit union I work at swears by them and sells them for $150. Off hand I've seen Beckett and other Red Sox wearing them. I think some of the Yanks wear them too.
